Not too sure what you are trying to gain with users and groups? The default setting is to allow any Tom, Dick or Harry to create a video conference room ad hoc but that is a security risk as anyone can create a DOS attack by loading the server up.

Normally, ad hoc rooms would be disabled and an administrator would create and take control of a conference room and invite attendees and assign them positions.

Hallo,

here in Germany it gives a law of data protection.
And the default of openmcu breacks the law.
I have to define which User can see a room an who not.
Not every User is allowed to see or hear the Chat.

There are two strategies for security:

1. You can give the users rights to create and access the rooms. But then it is up to users and there is very little control.  OpenMCU-ru doesn't support creating users and groups at this time.

Or

2. Have an administrator create the rooms, moderate and select who can join the room. This places the security aspect on the administrator.

Day to day operations:

  • Create a Moderated conference room
  • Create displays for each location and configure the appropriate matrix
  • Invite users to the room and assign them to the appropriate display
  • Configure their VoIP account so that they view the “other” display
  • Add their VoIP credentials to the Address book
  • When the room has been configured and finalized, save the room configuration if it is a recurring room. The next week, open the saved room configuration.
  • Optional:
  • Record the conference room
  • Stream the conference using RTSP or Web streaming
